Mom, Dad! What are we going to do today?!
Oh! You're coming with the kids. Well that shouldn't be a problem at all, we'll tell you what is best to do in such situations. :)First: the Zoo! The northern part of the city, Baneasa, is where you can spend some quality time with the kids. The local administration has great plans with the Zoo, they want to enlarge it and simulate a huge natural habitat where they can leave freely while man has the possibility to visit it in safari trips. :)
Supposedly you will have the occasion to visit the Zoo sooner than that... so, this is what you'll see: 149 species - 3000 animals altogether, birds, reptiles, exotic fishes, wild animals and that includes adorable little cubs, yes, we know you love them!
On the other hand the bad news is that the Zoo lost one of its most precious creatures: an elephant, Gaya, who died 3 months ago of old age. :(
Visiting the Zoo requires a couple of hours, or a little more and the tickets are cheaper than you can imagine: 1,5 RON for adults and 0,8 RON for kids. That's less than 50 eurocents for adults and 20 eurocents for kids. You can get to the zoo either by car or by bus - 301 which you take from Piata Romana.
If Zoo doesn't startle their interest maybe the Circus will. The Secrets of the Elfs is the show of the year 2007 at the Globus Circus in Bucharest. If you decide to go there, take your time to visit the park near the Circus. It has a very interesting landscape and some great wooden sculptures that were made from stumps and blocks of dead trees.
Now back to the Circus, the price for the tickets varies according to your place against the stage from 100 RON (35 EU) to 10 RON (3,5 EU). There are shows due in the morning which mostly stand for public rehearsals and tickets are a bit cheaper.
There are things to do, even for free, like having fun in one of the amusement parks in Herastrau or Tineretului, especially in the summer time. Winter, on the other hand, comes with lots of skate-rinks in Cismigiu - in the center of the town lies the largest of all, but then you can also consider Unirii Skate-Rink, Drumul Taberei or Titan... Is it difficult to keep in mind Romanian proper names? :)
