Before 1930 the whole area was a swamp which was reclaimed in-between 1930 and 1935. The park was desgined by the architects Pinard and Rebhun and the aleys by Octav Dobrescu. Fr. Rebhun is also "responsible" for the green "composition" - trees, flowers and so on.

Throughout time the park was arranged on two separate areas: a quite one destined to rest and cultural activities and another one for sports - beyond the lake. This latter area was designed by the architects Visan and Mateescu so that the two sides of the park complete each other in architecture.

In the "cultural" side of the park there are two theaters - one for kids and another for grown-ups, two exhibition sites, libraries, a bower for reading and chess playing, benches and playgrounds, whereas on the other side, you'll find sports grounds, challets and restaurants.
